WHAT IS JUDO?
Judo is a fun, high-energy martial art and Olympic sport focused on balance, momentum, and technique rather than brute strength. In our classes, you’ll learn how to safely throw an opponent, maintain control on the ground, and fall safely without getting hurt. Because Judo relies on using your opponent's energy against them, it's a great discipline for people of all sizes and fitness levels. Whether you want to learn practical self-defense, build functional strength, or try an exciting new workout, Judo is a great place to start!
WHAT DO I NEED TO WEAR AND BRING TO CLASS?
ALL GEAR MUST BE WASHED AND CLEAN BEFORE EACH CLASS, INCLUDING BELTS.
We have a strict hygiene policy at this gym for everyone's health and safety. For this class, please bring:
-
a mouthguard
-
Flip flops or slides for easy on-and-off access to the mat.
-
a Gi (a jiu jitsu or judo gi will work. We have loaners to borrow, as well as jiu jitsu gis for sale if you don’t have one yet). (A gi is the specific kimono worn during judo or jiu jitsu - comprised of pants, the jacket, and the belt. Note that gis for striking arts like karate are different and will not hold up with grappling as well as judo or jiujitsu gis.)
